Relevance/Abstract

 

Natural alkaloids and their synthetic analogues represent a unique source of biologically active compounds with diverse pharmacological properties. However, to improve their therapeutic efficacy and reduce side effects, a targeted modification is often required to achieve a specific type of activity. The ability of alkaloids to interact with various targets in the cell creates unique opportunities for the modification and creation of preparations with the targeted activities. At the same time, their synthetic analogues provide researchers with the opportunity to structurally optimize and create compounds with the desired pharmacological properties. This contributes to the development of preparations with the improved bioavailability, selectivity and stability. The targeted modification in this case involves changing the structure of alkaloids in order to enhance or reduce their effect on specific biological targets.

 

Purpose (according to application)

 

Applying modern theoretical, experimental methods to targeted search for BAS, to obtain agents of given type of activity (local anesthetic, myelostimulating, plant growth stimulating activities) by modifying natural alkaloids and their synthetic analogues, to identify some regularities of the effect of functional-groups on their biological activity.

Expected results

1) New modified derivatives of natural alkaloids and their synthetic analogues with a confirmed structure and detailed physicochemical properties, which have been tested for a biological activity;


2) An optimally selected or developed method for the synthesis of the derivatives of natural alkaloids and their synthetic analogues, especially based on the principles of green chemistry;


3) Establishing “the structure of derivatives of natural alkaloids and their synthetic analogues - biological activity correlation”, identifying the effect of replacing some pharmacological groups with myelostimulating, local anesthetic, growth-regulating activities and changes in the blood parameters;


4) Isolation of the candidate compounds for subsequent advanced biological testing. Achieving the expected results is directly dependent on the purity of the compounds obtained.
