On August 19, 2024, in Dushanbe, the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan held a conference as part of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Tajikistan, scheduled for August 22, 2024.
The conference was attended by the leadership and academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as directors of research institutes, scientists, and representatives of the creative intelligentsia.
The aim of the conference was to further strengthen interstate cooperation in the field of science, unite the scientific potential of scientists from Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, and discuss issues of coordinating scientific research within a common platform.
Particular attention was paid to establishing direct contacts between experts and organizing bilateral meetings.
During the conference, the following issues were discussed:
- analysis and identification of priority areas for joint scientific research;
- promoting more effective integration of scientific research;
- assisting in the creation and implementation of new scientific projects;
- spreading the experience of science reforms in Central Asian countries to improve the quality of scientific personnel training;
- identifying priority areas for the development of fundamental and applied scientific research and developing measures to implement their results in the real economy sector;
- exchanging views on spreading the experience of science reforms in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as ways to improve the quality of scientific personnel training.
As a result of the event, the Academies of Sciences of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan reached several common agreements:
- agreement on joint priority areas of scientific research;
- coordination of joint scientific projects of the Academies of Sciences of Central Asian countries;
- agreement on organizing and conducting joint scientific expeditions;
- signing a joint statement on cooperation between the institutes and scientific centers of the two countries.
After the conference, the President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, A. Kurishbayev, visited the Central Asian Research Center for Ecology and Environmental Protection and the Institute of Geology, Seismology, and Earthquake-Resistant Construction in Dushanbe, where an agreement was reached on creating joint projects. He also laid flowers and paid tribute to the monument of the founder of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences, Kanysh Satpayev.
